Hello guys. Have you ever heard about the word stigmergy? This is actually a biological term that describes a social network mechanism of indirect coordination. It is a form of self-organization social network with no need for any planning, control or direct communication. This kind of network is used by termites, ants and some other animals. For example, termites automatically leave their ground particles into a pile of soil left by other termites, thus the more the pile grows the more termites are eager to leave the soil at that place. As we all know the ants act as an organism rather than organization, and they have no equal in their cooperation and information system. That's why they can be a good example for a new web organization. Let's look over the project named DAOstack.

The working principle of DAOstack

DAOs or Decentralized Autonomous Organizations are the assembly of agents with acentric cooperation as a new model of web-organization. They will operate at DAOstack as provided by smart-contracts based on blockchain. They can have their own tokens, reputation system and regulation. There is indirect coordination mechanism by incentives and codes used by agents instead of central administration. A simple action of DAO is voting for any offer submitted by some agent. The smart-contract self-implements if the calculation gives 51%. The weight of voice depends on the reputation of agent and the number of tokens. The functions of agents include token distribution, fund distribution, reputation estimation, collective curation, external activity, management improvement and others.

  • Collaboration - decision management and coordination among large groups (a film project, an open-source software project, a collaborative news network).
  • Shared ownership -funds or assets management (charitable, venture or pension funds, insurance networks, real estate investment collectives).
